Museums Victoria Glen Eira Collection
Museums Victoria Senior Curator, Deborah Tout-Smith will share stories and photographs of the Glen Eira area, including rare photographs of the urban landscape, shops and businesses, sport and recreation, and key events such as WWI. She will also introduce treasures from the Museum’s clothing and textiles collection. This talk follows the AGM of Glen Eira Historical Society. Supper provided.

From sanatoria to urban bushland: An environmental history of Melbourne’s former sites of tuberculosis treatment.
A talk by Environmental Historian, Rebecca Le Get. Rebecca Le Get is an independent scholar and environmental historian. She is interested in how tuberculosis and its treatment has influenced the development of green spaces and bushland reserves in suburban Melbourne. Were it not for these forests being selected for healthcare, it is uncertain if these areas of bushland would have persisted into the present.

GEHS Speaker Series – The story of the Yarra River in images 1850s to 2000s
During the COVID 19 period, Dr Judith Buckrich had been researching the history of the Yarra River toward the creation of a book and exhibition in late 2023. Paintings, drawings and photographs of the river are integral to her research and will be used specifically as part of a chapter on artists and writers, as well as to illustrate many of the other themes.
