This social history is eminently readable and takes the reader into the sometimes murky world of shorthand. The book shatters stereotypes about the gender and shorthand. Who would have thought that shorthand began as the bastion of male dominance and continued to be so for decades? Where on earth did the author uncover some terrific yarns about the use of shorthand – for good and for bad! This is a very enjoyable read which I certainly recommend.”
