This is a history of the beginnings of the Belfast Road District, proclaimed in 1853 and the Belfast Shire (now Moyne).
Only six years after the launch of the first edition of this book, the Shire of Belfast was amalgamated along with several other adjoining municipalities into the Shire of Moyne. that wasn’t the end of the Shire of Belfast, its people, its attractions or its history – just a new beginning with a name change.
Second edition print – after more than 20 years of this book being out of print it has been brought back. Including the entirety of the first edition, this second edition has a number of extras: an index, errata for the first edition, more researched material relating to a variety of people and subjects, associated with the Shire of Belfast, and correspondence from interested readers of the first edition in an Open Forum context.
