“This book is the slightly-revised text of a doctoral thesis on the extra-parliamentary organisation of the Liberal Party of Australia in the state of Victoria, during the period of 1945-70. The purpose of the original thesis was, of course, to provide the author with a meal-ticket qualification. The present aim is far less pretentious: to add some much-needed detail to the empirically hazy picture we have of what the Liberal Party is like and how it functions.”
