Knowledge is Power: A History of Yallourn Technical School 1928 -1993 by Graham Goulding

Yallourn Technical School began just six years after the first sod was turned in the development of the power industry at Yallourn. The school continued in different forms, using the Yallourn name, until the end of 1993.
During that time the tertiary and then the TAFE sections became separate institutions. The remaining secondary section which eventually became Yallourn Secondary College later merged with the two other Moe secondary schools to form Lowanna College.
Over the lifetime of the school, it was an essential part of the infrastructure that provided an education and skilled workforce for the State Electricity Commission and other Latrobe Valley employers, all of which underpinned the industrial development of the state.
The history of the school in the many ways reflects the changing nature of technical education in Victoria during that period.
This book attempts to record the history of the school with a focus on the secondary section but much of the history still rests in the memories of the hundred of past staff and thousands of students.
