Footprints: A history of the shire of Tullaroop by Barbara Willis (Second Hand Book)

SECOND HAND BOOK – EX-LIBRARY

From the Introduction:

“The Shire of Tullaroop is a compact Shire of 63,763 hectares in Central Victoria. The district has seen a kaleidoscope of Australian history from the eons of the dreamtime and centuries of aboriginal occupation until the incursions of the squatters in that stoic decade of the 1840s. The 1850s brought the frenetic days of the gold rushes and municipal development. Then the district subsided into a period of mining, agriculture and light industry. The recent arrival in the 1970s and 80s of the ‘hobby’ farmer has seen a resurgence in growth and a re-awakening of the district to its potential and its past. The population of the Shire has risen from a nadir of 1140 to some 2,090 today.
