A social history of the Melbourne inner working class suburb of Collingwood, examining how the suburb developed in the period 1853-1906.
The book utilises original newspaper reports, stories, poems and songs from largely unseen sources to gain an understanding of working class life in Collingwood, during this period. An examination of how these forces culminated in the quest for social recompense via the Collingwood Football Club.
