GS-EV-52; Church Street Bridge, Richmond; Gunn's Slides (Firm); A glass slide that depicts a bridge that crosses over the Yarra River. The river and bank are in the forefront. The bridge, buildings and cloudy sky are in the background. There is a slope on both sides of the bridge and several people are walking across.
The bridge was built in October 1857 at a cost of 57,000 pound, and served to connect Prahran and Richmond until 1914 when the new bridge was constructed.

T. Aubrey Bpwen was one of the founders of ophthalmology in Victoria, Frederick William Haddon was a journalist and editor of the Argus, Marcus Clarke was a novelist, journalist and poet. In 1868 they formed the Yorick Club, a meeting place for literary men.

He has a disgruntled expression on his face and is engaged in conversation with a newspaper boy selling copies of The Argus.

GS-IT-77; Harry Hawker with trans-Atlantic aviators Alcock and Brown; Gunn's Slides (Firm); Harry Hawker and Mackenzie Grieve made an unsuccessful attempt to fly the Atlantic in May 1919. A few weeks later British aviators John Alcock and Arthur Brown made the first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight in June 1919.
This photograph shows Hawker and Mackenzie Grieve at a "Transatlantic Aviators’’ Dinner in London. Hawker is third from the left and Mackenzie Grieve is fifth from the left. Sir John Alcock is at the extreme left, with Sir Arthur Whitten Brown between him and Hawker.
