GS-EV-35; Melbourne Cricket Ground, c. 1895; Glass slide of a photograph of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The photograph is taken from the crowd, and looks toward the game on the field and the stands on the other side.
It is suggested that the tower in the background is Jolimont Terrace, the grandstands could be the second Members Pavillion (1881-1927) and the second Northern Stand (1884-1950's).
The MCG was established in 1853 in Jolimont. Street address is Brunton Avenue, East Melbourne. Listed on the Heritage Register.
One of many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
