About this objectA detailed account of lives of George (born 1830) and his second wife Elizabeth Parsons, the great grandparents of Peter Parsons, entitled "Experiences of the Parsons' Family on the S.S Great Britain."
George, a highly skilled in carpentry and drawing, made two voyages to Australia, firstly from 1852-54 with his brother, cousin and school friends after hearing about the goldrush; and secondly in 1870 with his second wife and three children, resulting in permanent residency in Victoria.
(Box 061-13) MS 001183 : Biographical details include skills and resources of the family, social conditions, and information on voyage of 'Great Britain' in 1870; includes details of Elizabeth Parsons' artistic career, publication of lithographed drawings of Victorian 'Buildings", 'Trees', and 'Landscapes', the satisfactions and highlights of life in the family. Photocopy of a photograph of George and Elizabeth.
