Details re squatting life with particular reference to Bulla Bulla (Deep Creek), Colliban (Campaspe), Five Mile, Kilmorie, Wonwondah, Helensville, Katesville, Newgrove and Harpsdale stations; Ballarat estates; partnership between George Brodie and Andrew Rose Cruikshank; Martin Batey; Australasian League; and biographical sketches of Captain David Brodie (father of the Brodie brothers) and George Sinclair Brodie (grandson of George Brodie). George Sinclair Brodie (Snr) was the first government land auctioneer in the Port Phillip District.
NOTE: Included is additional information on the Brodie family history donated by Gerald Brodie (2008). This addresses the confusion between Mary Pain Wood [Payne Wood] who arrived on the 'Strathfieldsaye' (1832) and married George Brodie at Launceston in January 1833 and Mary Pain, who arrived on the 'Princess Royal' in 1834.
