About this objectDeep Lead was once a gold mining township. The peak of its population was in 1858 with more than 30 000 people living there.
The pioneers memorial was unveiled in 1937 and is located just off the Western Highway at Deep Lead. On the monument is a mural of two miners, a goat on the left and a sheep on the right.
