About this objectView of Eastern Hill, East Melbourne, looking east from Parliament House. In the foreground on the east side of Gisborne Street are from left: Lutheran Church, School and Manse. Portion of David Syme's house is visible on the extreme right. Behind the Lutheran Church is the Unitarian Church, and behind that and to the right are the buildings of Scotch College. Chalmer's Church dominates the right side of the photo. In the middle distance, the Fitzroy Gardens extend across the photograph. In the far distance Clarendon Terrace and Bishopscourt are discernible.
One of the many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
Selby gave a glass slide lecture on Old Melbourne and East Melbourne at the Unitarian Church, Grey Street, East Melbourne, in January 1930.
