About this objectVickers Vimy aircraft on the airfield at Hounslow, west of London, at the start of England-Australia Air Race in 1919. The crew of Ross and Keith Smith, W. Spiers and J.M. Bennett (in flying suits) are standing in front of the aircraft with several other men.
The Vimy carried the registration letters G-EAOU resulting in its nickname 'God 'Elp All Of Us' and it won the Race, landing in Darwin after a flight lasting 27 days and 20 hours.
One of the many slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
