The single storey house occupies a block of land. Gardiner's Creek and a garden are in the foreground. There are surrounding trees in the background.
John Gardiner migrated to Tasmania from the UK in 1823. In 1836 he went to the new settlement at Port Phillip and then on to Sydney. Together with Joseph Hawdon and John Hepburn, he drove 300 cattle overland from Sydney to Gardiner’s Creek. This was the first overland journey with stock and the three men are known as ‘the Overlanders’.
One of many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
