About this objectGlass slide that depicts the pioneering settlement of Geelong. The view is form the wharf to the land. Two ships, crew, cargo being unloaded and the Steam Packet Wharf are in the foreground. There are various buildings in the background that include the Mack's Hotel and crowds of people.
Mack's Hotel, first known as the Wool Pack Inn, was located in Corio Terrace (now Brougham Street) in Geelong. During the late 1880s it was known as the Geelong Coffee Palace. Heritage Register H7721-0499.
One of many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
