Local history society dedicated to preserving and promoting interest in the history of Morwell and district.
The Sale Historical Society manages the Sale Museum (open Sunday & Wednesday afternoons), Sale Water Tower (open 2 – 4 pm each Saturday), the Sale Powder Magazine (open by request) and the Sale Railway Museum (open for special functions and by request). Holdings in the main museum include municipal records (1863 – 1950), large photographic collection, including early pioneer settlers, Mary Grant Bruce collection and other local memorabilia collections. Research by written request.
A small group of interested persons in late 2011 decided to establish a group that would collate and preserve the local history of our area.
The Bunyip Historical Society’s home is at the Bunyip Hall and located in what is colloquially known as the “RSL room”. We do not open to the public as yet, but is in our future plans.

Inverloch Historical Society is a meeting group of about 50 members who come together for fellowship to listen to speakers on matters historical and twice a year (May and September) visit places of historical and common interest. We conduct Historical Town Walks (Christmas) and sell 20 books on local and family history. Two bus trips per year for members.
“Mallow House”, built 1916, is the home of Koo Wee Rup Swamp Historical Society, incorporating a museum, etc. Collects and preserves the history of Koo Wee Rup and the Koo Wee Rup Swamp.

The Wonthaggi and District Historical Society had its beginning in the late 1950’s when a number of interested citizens saw the need to preserve Wonthaggi’s history. A public meeting was held and the historical society was formed. Over the ensuing years the collection of artifacts has grown, as has its collection of photographs and documents. The society has copies of most local newspapers, some dating back to 1910; audio tapes of many and varied speakers with their rich tapestry of experiences and observations.

The Berwick – Pakenham Historical Society seeks to promote awareness of the history of our district’s history through the acquisition, preservation and display of historical items; recording of older residents’ knowledge; and undertaking research, publications and displays. We are a member of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.

Founded in 1969, the Society’s History Centre provides both visitors and researchers the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Marysville and its surrounds.
The Society’s Museum houses a unique collection of items based around 4 main themes, which are: Pioneers, Timber, Tourism and the RSL. The Museum ONLY contains items that have a connection to the Marysville Triangle region, which includes Narbethong, Buxton Taggerty, Lake Mountain and Cambarville.
Collection contains many records of Marysville area including timber industry, old saw mills, guest houses present and past, photographs, cemetery records and general memorabilia.
