Our FRRR grant is starting to gain traction and we are thrilled to announce that we have appointed Pam Millist to be the project officer working with 4 historical societies in Murrindindi Shire over the next 5-6 months. Pam is a qualified librarian with qualifications in computer science and vast experience working with information technology. She will be starting in the field shortly.

Celebrating Engineering History

An afternoon mini-conference “Celebrating Engineering History” is planned for Thursday 15 August 2019, 1pm – 5pm, at the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, being organised by Engineering Heritage Victoria in partnership with the RHSV.

Engineering has been defined as being “a vital art, working with the great sources of power in nature for the wealth and well-being of the whole of society”.  We often just think of engineering as being something that started when engineers became a separate profession,

The RHSV’s History Victoria Bookshop now has a small selection of rare used books in the bookshop and found on-line. Including Weston Bate’s beautiful book on Melbourne’s laneways and Peter Yule’s magisterial book on the history of Carlton.

The 2019 AGM will be held at 5pm on Tue 21 May. If you wish to nominate for Council or the History Victoria Support Group please submit a nomination by 5pm Tue 14 May 2019. Read more here.

The RHSV is looking for a project officer in Murrindindi Shire – someone with librarianship skills, information management skills, their own car and flexibility. It is the FTE of 8 weeks works spread over 4 – 6 months, time and dates negotiable with the 4 historical societies with whom you’ll be working. Closing date: 5 April 2019.

Project Officer Murrindindi PD

The RHSV is seeking a part-time (2 days per week) Marketing Co-ordinator to work mainly on direct and digital marketing. Applications close 5pm Thur 28 Mar. More information can be found here
