Emigration, Dress and Australian Colonial Society, 1820s – 1860s

November 15, 2023 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Free, bookings required

Join us for this talk as we consider the nature of colonial society and the immigrants experience through the lens of dress. What clothes did people bring with them to start a new life in Australia? How did this match with what they found on arrival?

Presenter Laura Jocic, is a curator and dress historian with expertise in nineteenth and twentieth century Australian and international fashion and textiles.

This event is being run in conjunction with the Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens exhibition Yesteryear: a glimpse into Greater Dandenong’s Past.

An afternoon tea will be provided following the presentation.
