Billibellary Indigenous History Lecture

The RHSV, in 2022, created an annual lecture on Indigenous history as one of its Distinguished Lecture series. It has been funded initially for five years by an RHSV member. In 2023 the Wurundjeri Woiworrung Aboriginal Corporation permitted the RHSV to name the lecture the Billibellary Indigenous History Lecture. This naming honours Billibellary a Wurundjeri Willam clan leader. He was one of the most eminent Elders of the Kulin Nation in the 1830s and early 1840s before his death in 1846 from influenza.
